Who we are
Founded in 2008, reborn in 2020, and located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of New York. The Glenora School of Fly Fishing is a mobile fly-fishing school offering instruction to all aspects of fly fishing and for all abilities.
Programs to change the way you fish!
Classes and lessons are held at various venues along the finger lakes wine trails, your home, or at a private pond.



Private Lessons
Personal attention to optimize your fly fishing potential
Our private fly-fishing lessons aim to make you a more self-sufficient and competent angler. We will focus on individualized aspects of fly fishing to help improve your fishing experience to be more fulfilling and productive. All skill levels welcome. Bring your own equipment or we can provide equipment to use during your lessons.
Rate:
$80 a person per hour for individuals; $60 per person for groups up to 3.
Fishing 101- Basic Training
Discovering the confidence to fish on your own
We realize that there are many who may have fished in their youth, but not as an adult and might need help getting started again. Our Basic Training class aims to reacquaint you with the basics until your confidence is reestablished. All questions and skill building inquiries welcome. We can show you the basics of spin fishing too!

Guided Trips
Explore the diversity of the beautiful Finger Lakes
The Finger Lakes region of New York has a diverse array of fish species as well as many different water types. Shahab, certified New York fishing guide #3500, will enhance your fly fishing experience with insight on how seasonal and weather changes dictate where and what we fish. You will leave this experience with a wealth of knowledge of the area and be shown the beauty of the region from a local expert.

What We Offer

Meet Your Instructor...
Shahab Farzanegan has worked in the field of Aquatic and Angling Education since 1996 and is the Founder of the Glenora School of Fly Fishing. Shahab has worn many hats in the field, most notably as the Aquatic and Angling Education Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Director of the Community Fly Fisher in Ithaca, NY, and Coordinator of the National 4-H Sportfishing Programs. Additionally, Shahab served as a fly fishing instructor at Cornell University and has contributed to many fly fishing educational resoucres including the Student Handbook of Fly Fishing. Shahab currently lives in Glenora on Seneca Lake, accompanied by Rafiki #CosmicPoodle, and is certified New York State fishing guide #3500.
