Who we are

Founded in 2008 and reborn in 2020; located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the Glenora School of Fly Fishing is a mobile fly-fishing school offering instruction to all aspects of fly fishing for all abilities.

Programs to change the way you fish!

Classes and lessons are held at various venues along the finger lakes wine trails, your home or at a private pond located between Seneca and Cayuga lake.

Private Lessons

Personal attention for greater fly fishing growth

Our private fly-fishing lessons help make you a more self-sufficient and competent angler. We will focus on aspects of fly fishing to help improve your time fishing, and be more fulfilling and productive. Bring your own equipment or we can provide equipment to use during your lessons.

Rate: $80 a person per hour for individuals; $60 per person for groups up to 3. 

Fishing 101- Basic Training

Discovering the confidence to fish on your own

We realize that there are many adults who may have fished as a youth, but not as an adult and might need help to getting started. We can show you the basics of spin fishing too!

Rate: $40 a person per hour

Guided Trips

Explore the diversity of the Finger Lakes!

The Finger Lakes region of New York has a diverse array of fish species to target, as well as many different water types. Season and weather will dictate where we fish as water level and temperature play a major role in location and species we target.

About Your Instructor...

Shahab Farzanegan has worked in the field of aquatic and angling education for the last 20 years and till recently was Aquatic and Angling Education Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. He has also served as the Director of the Community Fly Fisher in Ithaca,NY, and Coordinator of the National 4-H Sportfishing Programs. Shahab served as an instructor of fly fishing at Cornell University and has written many fly fishing educational resources. Shahab currently lives on Seneca Lake in Glenora and is a certified New York State fishing guide. He is often accompanied by Rafiki, the wonder Poodle!
